The word "Maeng" da translates to "pimp grade" in Thai and the strain was bred in Thailand through a process known as grafting. It gets its name from its generally concentrated profile and strong aroma. Red Maeng Da is the red variant of the Maeng Da strain. It's leaves are harvested the latest out of the three Maeng Da color varieties (white, green & red). Red Maeng Da typically has the slowest aroma out of the three color varieties, although it is still considered to be a faster red strain when compared to what is average within the red vein category.
