Both green and White Maeng Da come from the same Maeng Da strain. The differences lie in when the leaves are harvested, with white leaves being harvested earlier than the green leaves. The difference in the harvesting time of the Maeng Da leaves lead to a slightly differing alkaloid profile (and vein color of the leaves). Both varieties typically have concentrated alkaloid profiles, however, White Maeng Da typically has an aroma that leans slightly faster than Green Maeng Da's. Both are considered to be fast strains within their respective vein color categories.
